General : Slight Increase In Number Of Flood Evacuees In Pahang

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) — The number of flood victims taking shelter at relief centres in Pahang showed a slight increase, while the number in Perak dropped, and those in Kelantan and Johor remained unchanged as at 2 pm Tuesday.

As such, the total number of victims at the four flood-hit states now stood at 4,622 compared to 4,646 this morning.

In PAHANG, the state police contingent headquarters flood operations room spokesman said the number of flood victims at five relief centres in Temerloh and Pekan increased slightly to 892 this afternoon from 887 this morning.

The increase was recorded in Temerloh where 793 victims were still housed at relief centres compared to 788 victims recorded earlier.

The number of victims in Pekan, however, remained at 99.

In PERAK, the number of flood evacuees in the state dropped to 2,121 (577 families) this afternoon from 2,150 (583 families) this morning.

Perak National Security Council (MKN) spokesman said Perak Tengah still had 1,747 evacuees, followed by Hilir Perak (228), Manjung (112) and Hulu Perak (34).

Meanwhile in Kelantan and Johor, the number of evacuees remained at 1,583 and 26 people, respectively.

A spokesman at the Kelantan National Security Council said a total of 1,016 people were in Kuala Krai, Gua Musang (414), Tanah Merah (93) and Machang (60).

In JOHOR, the 26 flood victims, from six families, are staying at two evacuation centres in Segamat.
