In PAHANG, there was a significant rise in the number of people evacuated from 35,501 last night to 49,369 victims.
They are being sheltered at 262 evacuation centres in eight districts which are still flooded.
A spokesman from the Flood Operations Room of the Pahang Contingent Police Headquarters said all the eight districts concerned showed an increase in the number of victims with Temerloh still recording the highest number of evacuees at 19,875 victims in 62 relief centres.
“Meanwhile, the seven other districts affected are Pekan with 9,387 victims at 40 relief centres, Jerantut (6,025 victims at 59 centres), Maran (4,351 at 32 centres), Kuantan (3,880 at 17 centres), Lipis (2,930 at 27 centres), Bera (2,755 at 19 centres), and Rompin (166 at six centres),” he said.
In PERAK, the flood situation deteriorated with the number of evacuees in the Kerian district rising and pushing up the overall number of victims in the state to 7,735 from 2,049 families, compared with 7,408 victims from 1,948 families last night.
According to a spokesman of the National Security Council (MKN) for Perak, so far 300 victims from 90 families in Kerian had been evacuated to two relief centres.
The district of Perak Tengah was still badly affected with 4,512 victims from 1,201 families being sheltered at 19 relief centres in the area.
In Hulu Perak district, there were 746 victims from 202 families staying at 16 relief centres.
In the district of Kuala Kangsar which included the Sungai Siput area, there was not much change so far with 2,177 victims from 556 families staying at 22 relief centres.
Meanwhile, one road was still closed, namely Jalan Kampung Asli Sedohok in the district of Kluang.
The flood situation in Terengganu was receding with the number of victims dropping to 30,652 this morning compared with 31,805 last night.
According to statistics from the MKN Terengganu portal, more than 1,100 victims left the evacuation centres from yesterday till this morning.
This morning, there were still 21,532 victims affected by the floods in Kemaman, Dungun (8,770), Hulu Terengganu (74) and Kuala Terengganu (276).
Overall, there were 65 evacuation centres that were still operating namely 27 in Dungun, Hulu Terengganu (four), Kemaman (36) and Kuala Terengganu (six).
