Tian Chua arrested in Permatang Pauh
PKR vice-president Tian Chua has been picked up by the police and is currently held in the Seberang Perai Police headquarters in Bandar Perda.
When contacted, Tian Chua said "I am here but I cannot talk now," before the telephone line was cut off.
Assemblymen Lee Khai Loon (Machang Bubok) and Cheah Kah Peng (Kebun Bunga) are rushing to the police department now.
Lee said Tian Chua was arrested at 11.40pm at Jalan Tuna, Seberang Jaya.
"He was roughed up," alleged Lee.
It is believed that Tian Chua was picked-up for allegedly participating in the anti-GST (goods and services tax) rally in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, yesterday, May Day.
Tian Chua is in Permatang Pauh to campaign for PKR's candidate Dr Wan Ismail Wan Azizah for the parliament seat that goes to polls on May 7.
