Immigration to update systems

SEPANG: The Immigration Department is upgrading its various systems to detect cases of fake identities at entry points.

Measures to be implemented include a facial recognition system to detect impersonators and installing passport scanners to read embedded security chips in foreign passports.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the department was also working with Interpol through Bukit Aman to access the international body’s lost and stolen travel document system.
