General : Usage Of Standard Helmets Still Low – JKJR

KUALA TERENGGANU, May 26 (Bernama) — Awareness on usage of helmets which meet the stipulated specifications is still low among motorcyclists and pillion riders.

Malaysian Road Safety Department (JKJR) director-general Datuk Dr Tam Weng Wah said not using helmets which were certified by Sirim was among factors for deaths in accidents involving motorcyclists and pillion riders in the country.

“Actually, the awareness on the need to use helmets is there, but they use helmets which do not meet standards. They should use helmets which are certified by Sirim.
