General : Stop Issuing Logging Licences, Increase Enforcement To Stop Destruction Of Forests

KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) — Stopping the issuing of logging licences and stepping up enforcement of the Town and Country Planning Act 1976 (Act 172) are some of the proposals given to reduce the destruction of trees and forests in the country.

Pelindung Khazanah Alam Malaysia (Peka) president, Puan Sri Shariffa Sabrina Syed Akil said more than 70 per cent of trees and forests in the country were encroached upon by uncontrolled logging and development activities.
