General : Perak Government To Revise 2015 State Budget

IPOH, Jan 21 (Bernama) — The Perak government is to revise the 2015 state budget in responding to the changes in the global economic landscape, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said Wednesday.

The revision would encompass various aspects and it was important to ensure that the budget was more realistic, he said.

“We have yet to sit down … revision is very important. We have to look into more realistic measures and also relook the revenue as well,” he told reporters after receiving post-flood donations to the state government.

Zambry said the matter would be finalised soon and the state government would announce the aid for flood victims as well.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday announced measures to strengthen the country’s economic resilience in view of the changes in the global economic landscape.

Zambry said the state government would distribute RM500 to each family affected by the recent floods in the state, augmenting the RM500 to be provided by the federal government.

He said the financial assistance would be distributed to an estimated 1,700 families eligible to receive the aid.

The menteri besar said 26 houses of flood victims in Perak would be rebuilt as per a decision adopted at a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin is also chairman of the National Disaster Management and Relief Committee.
