KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Monday congratulated Malaysia’s badminton men’s and women’s doubles pairs for winning the fifth and sixth gold medals for Malaysia at the 20th Commonwealth Games, in Glasgow, Scotland.

“Two more gold medals! Well done Malaysia’s men’s and women’s doubles shuttlers! #Glasgow2014,” he tweeted.

The fifth gold medal for the country came through the women’s doubles pair Vivian Khoo-Woon Khe Wei who defeated Jwala Gutta-Ashwini Ponnappa from India 21-17, 23-21.

The national men’s doubles pair Tan Wee Kiong-Goh V Shem, on the other hand, bagged the sixth gold medal for Malaysia, hence defended the Commonwealth Games gold medal, by defeating Singaporean pair Danny Chrisnanta-Chayut Triyachart in rubber set 21-12, 12-21, 21-15.

The Malaysian contingent ended their campaign in Glasgow in 12th place with six gold, seven silver and six bronze medals.
