KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) — A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale hit Banda Sea, Indonesia at 9.23am today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement said the location of the earthquake was at 428km Southeast of Ambon, Indonesia and 1799km Southeast of Semporna, Sabah.
Its coordinates are 7.2 South, 129.8 East and the quake posed no tsunami threat, the statement added.
