General : MMEA Detains Two Foreign Ships For Illegal Fishing

KOTA TINGGI, April 28 (Bernama) — Two foreign ships which were detained last Friday and yesterday for anchoring in a restricted zone in the waters of Pengerang are suspected of illegal fishing activities.

The Tanjung Sedili Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) said the vessels had 63 crew each and between 100 and 150 tonnes of catch onboard at the time.

FV Ming 5 (FV Thunder) and FV Tai San (FV Chang Bai) were nabbed at 10.30 am on Friday and 8.30 pm last night respectively, between 2.3 and 3 nautical miles from Teluk Ramunia.
