Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said this was based on studies conducted by Permata and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).
He said Permata, with the cooperation of UPSI, had conducted the study three times to gauge the effectiveness of the Permata programme.
Based on the studies, it was found that the mentality of a majority of the Permata children were a year ahead of their age, he said in response to a question by Senator Datuk Rohani Abdullah.
Rohani wanted to know the success obtained by Permata children.
Shahidan said the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) test was also conducted on Permata children and it was found that their IQ level was good.
This proved the effective learning at Permata, he added.
The Permata Early Child Care and Education programme was founded by the Prime Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, in 2007. It stresses on fun learning for children.
