General : MDTCC Records 13 Cases Of Diesel Abuse In Pahang Between January And June 2014

KUANTAN, July 3 (Bernama) — Thirteen cases of abuse involving subsidised diesel were recorded by the Pahang office of the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (MDTCC) in the state during the first six months of this year.

Its director, Sharuddin Jali, said the success resulted in the seizure of diesel worth, RM320,000.

He attributed the success to public tip-off and surveillance.

“The modus operandi in the 13 cases is similar by buying subsidised diesel from one petrol station to another and the vehicles used, the gas tanks had been modified,” he told reporters here today.

In another development, Sharuddin assured the public of sufficient food supply to meet demand for the coming Aidilfitri celebration and cautioned traders against hiking prices of goods.

On complaints of increase in food price at Ramadan bazaars in the state, he said the price was still reasonable.
