The bus was among 10 buses inspected at the terminal during an operation by the Road Safety Department there today.
Kedah Road Transport Department (RTD) enforcement head, Mohamad Jalil Mat Lazim, said the bus was not allowed to proceed to its destination because its tyres did not meet the required thickness of 1.6 mm.
The bus was allowed to leave only after the tyres were changed, he told reporters at the terminal today.
Meanwhile, Kedah Road Transport Department director Nik Ahmad Syazwan Nik Azman said the operation, codenamed “Ops Terminal”, was held in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration to ensure safety of passengers using public transport.
It was conducted with the cooperation of the Road Transport Department and the Northern Region Public Land Transport Commission.
