General : IIC To Hold Month-long ‘Images Of Islam’ Exhibition Begining Tomorrow

KUCHING, July 2 (Bernama) — The Sarawak Islamic Information Centre (IIC) will organize its first ever “Images of Islam” exhibition, based on the works of renowned photographer from Saudi Arabia, Susan Baaghil, at the Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Jalan Pustaka, off Jalan Stadium here, tomorrow.

IIC in a statement today said the one-month exhibition aims to highlight the creative and innovative expressions in Islam, in accordance with one of the Centre’s objectives, and it will be launched by Puan Sri Jamilah Anu, the wife of Sarawak Chief Minister.

Susan Baaghil, the professional Muslim woman photographer from Saudi Arabia garnered more than 30 awards since 1985, and her works received international acclaim, ranging from United Nations Competitions to accolades from worldwide exhibition.

The exhibition is made possible through close collaboration between IIC and Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, and it is open to the public, said the statement.

Established in 2008 with a mission to facilitate a better understanding of Islam through multi-faceted programs, communal interactions and collaborative undertakings; the IIC believes that the accurate information and knowledge are the foundation of a better-informed and knowledge-rich society.
