General : CDC Banking On Service Management Moving Forward

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) — After introducing ePerolehan some 14 years ago, Commerce Dot Com Sdn Bhd (CDC) is looking towards transforming itself from the electronic procurement system provider to the federal government to a more pivotal role globally.

It said the catalyst to this initiative was NextGen ePerolehan that would replace the current ePerolehan application in early 2015.

To achieve the goal of becoming the benchmark of the electronic public procurement industry, CDC said it had taken a paradigm shift to transform itself from an IT-based (information technology) organisation into a service-based IT entity.

“This step is imperative as it will provide the advantage to compete at the world stage,” the company said in a statement.

It noted that the keyword that would prepare CDC to become a service-based entity was service management (SM).

CDC said to take the leap from a product-based organisation to a service-based entity, the elements of 4P – people, process, product and partner – were important along with best practice models and standards.

The statement further said there were basically seven pillars that CDC would follow to reap the SM benefits, including engaging and listening to customers, building a service structure, investing in the service desk, focal point, IT flagship and getting problem management working.

“SM is the vehicle that has the capability to propel us to become the benchmark in the global public electronic procurement industry,” it added.
