Its director, Khiruddin Drahman said all the members would work on 24-hour shifts during the 20-day operation.
“The 20 days would be 10 days before Syawal begins and 10 days after, beginning this Sunday, and among the stations affected would be those in Sentul, Sri Hartamas, Pudu, Titiwangsa, Wangsa Maju and Bandar Tun Razak,” he said when met by Bernama at his office in Jalan Maharajalela here.
He said pamphlets would be distributed at the launch of the operations to create awareness among the fire community team on fire prevention.
He said the community team who were locals trained as fire and rescue agents, would distribute the pamphlets to those residents in People’s Housing Projects and housing areas under the Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
Khiruddin said based on statistics last year, there were 109 calls on fires during the 10 days before Syawal and 83 in the 10 days after it.
