General : Air Quality In Sarawak’s Sri Aman Improves By Noon

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 (Bernama) — The air quality in Sri Aman, Sarawak, improved by noon to the moderate level from unhealthy as at 7 am Monday, according to the Department of Environment (DoE).

However, the number of places in the country with air quality at the moderate level jumped from 18 as at 7 am to 38 by noon, as indicated by the DoE portal.

The Air Pollutant Index (API) in Sri Aman at noon was 60, down from 117 as at 7 am.

Among the places with air quality at the moderate level at noon were Alor Star (55), Seri Manjung, Perak (54), Shah Alam (58) and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (55).

The air quality in 14 other places, including Putrajaya, was good at noon.

An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates good air quality; between 51 and 100, moderate; between 101 and 200, unhealthy; between 201 and 300, very unhealthy and over 301, hazardous.

Members of the public can refer to the DOE portal at http://www.doe.gov.my to find out the API reading for their areas.
