The centres are in Besut (139), Kemaman (88), Hulu Terengganu (81), Dungun (58), Kuala Terengganu (47), Setiu (35) and Marang (24).
MKN acting secretary Roslina Ngah said the security council was currently making preparations, together with numerous government departments and agencies to face the floods.
“We have identified relief centres and numerous preparations have been made. We have also briefed personnel and carried out disaster awareness programmes.
“A total of 116 frontline bases have also been identified to store supplies. The social welfare department will send food supplies in the middle of this month,” she said at the 2014 Terengganu Community Level Disaster Awareness Programme here.
Roslina said two electrical generators and a water filter handed over by Khazanah Holdings Berhad, would be stationed in Kemaman, following the acute flood in the district last year, which cut off water and electricity supplies.
She said MKN had also created a system of registration for flood victims in aid distribution.
“Previously, we registered them manually and it resulted in overlapping of names because the flood usually comes more than once, resulting in victims being registered twice or thrice,” she added.
