By Neville D’Cruz

MELBOURNE, Aug 8 (Bernama) — Malaysia External Trade Development Corp’s (Matrade) seminars here and Sydney have received an overwhelming response from Australian business communities.

Its trade commissioner here, Noor Hayati Abu Noh, told Bernama that about 300 Australians had registered for the Sydney seminar next Tuesday and over 200 were expected at the event here next Thursday.

Minister for International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, will open both seminars.

Mustapa is leading a trade and investment mission to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, Australia from Aug 8-16.

He will be accompanied by a business delegation comprising representatives from tourism, healthcare, agribusiness, automotive, oil and gas, and professional services sectors.

Noor Hayathi said she was pleased with the response from the Australians who had shown renewed interest in what Malaysia had to offer.

On Wednesday, Mustapa will meet his counterpart, Australia Trade and Investment Minister, Andrew Robb.

Another important event will be the opening of the Matrade office here.

The minister will spend Friday in Adelaide to meet officials and members of the Australia Malaysia Business Council as well as the Malaysian diaspora and students.

He will do the same in Sydney and Melbourne.
