PUTRAJAYA (Bernama) — Malaysians may well remember the first animation created in the country, Hikayat Sang Kancil dan Buaya (the tale of the mousedeer and crocodile), that appeared on television in 1983.
The animation produced by Filem Negara Malaysia (Finas) is based on the storyline how a cunning mousedeer made use of the crocodile to get across the river. The simple five-minute animation marked the beginning of the animation industry in the country.
