The aid comprising rice, canned food and other essential items was handed over by Songkhla Immigration chief Bonpot Kittivira to Bukit Kayu Hitam assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Zaini Japar, Tuesday.
“This contribution shows the close relations between the people of the two neighbouring countries. We are like siblings,” he said after the handing-over of the aid at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration office.
He added that the contributions would be sent to Kelantan and other flood-hit states as soon as possible.
Kittivira, in his speech, said the Thai Immigration Department in Songkhla sympathised with the fate of the flood victims in Malaysia and initiated a campaign to collect contributions for the victims.
He too noted the close and cordial relations between the people of both countries, especially those residing in the border areas.
