In a twitter posting, he called on the US to shutdown its Guantanamo detention centre.
Doing so, he added, "gives the US a vital chance to make things right and promote confidence in its democracy and judiciary".
Khairy was responding to US Vice-President Joe Biden, who earlier today tweeted concerns about the Sedition Act and other laws being used the stifle the opposition in Malaysia.
