The Selangor palace has confirmed that beleaguered menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim sought to meet the ruler overseas to discuss the current developments with regard to the political imbroglio in the state.
In a statement today, Mohamad Munir Banir said he received a request from Khalid to have an audience with the sultan, who is currently in Budapest, Hungary.
He also revealed that the sultan had turned down the request.
"I conveyed the request to his highness but the ruler told Khalid to wait until he returns home in a few days (Aug 27)," he added.
