Temple founder sad statue taken down
A Nezha deity statue standing more than 10 metres tall at a temple in Kampung Tembioh, Johor had to be taken down yesterday, following concerns raised by Kota Tinggi Umno Youth.
Kota Tinggi Umno Youth reportedly said that this is due to the temple’s proximity to a surau located 50 metres away.
"We are saddened by the fact that we have to take down the statue," said temple founder Koh Chin Kok, 53.
"We went to Quanzhou, China thrice to order the statue and have it shipped in two containers back in Kota Tinggi. It cost us about RM500,000," he said.
