Pressure group Gagasan Anti-Penyelewengan Selangor (GAPS) has called on all quarters to respect the role and responsibilities of the state ruler.
GAPS president Hamidzun Khairuddin said the centuries-old Malay rulers institution in Selangor is being tested by the current political imbroglio in the state.
"I regret the wild allegations by several NGOs which accuse the sultan of interfering in the state government's affairs.
"Don't blame the sultan because he is responsible in exercising his duties as stipulated by the state constitution," he added in a statement to Umno Online.
