PENANG: MH17 air stewardess Nur Shazana Mohamed Salleh's parents have expressed shock over the incident.
Speaking to reporters in Penang, her father Mohd Salleh Shamsuddin, 54, said: "She is my daughter, we pray that she is safe."
Salleh said Shazana is single, and was hoping to get her married soon.
"She felt that this month is special for her, she was planning to come home for Hari Raya," he added, fighting back tears.
Nur Shazana's mother, 57, was too distraught to speak to the media.
Later, Shazana's uncle Redza Abdullah, 61, a tour guide, said the last time she was in Penang was 19 days ago when he was admitted to hospital for heart problems.
Shazana lives in KL with her colleagues and her three siblings are in KL and Ipoh (one still studying).
She loves to fly the Europe sector.
"She's a jovial person although she may not look so at first.
"A few days ago she asked her dad for both her parents identity number but they didn't ask her for what".
Redza said MAS will be updating the family on an hourly basis but told them to stay in Penang until they have more details.
