Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has questioned whether the alleged letter sent by Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to the US Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) headquarters in Washington DC, was "genuine".
He said that the letter – which has been widely circulated – raises doubts due to the substandard nature of its composition, especially when it is supposed to have originated from the Home Ministry.
"I had my doubts because of the language in the letter, which is not of international standard.
"Worse still, is the date of the letter which is written in the Malay language," Lim said at a press conference today.
