GEORGE TOWN: Thousands of people converged at the Dewan Sri Pinang in Light Street here to pay their last respects to former DAP national chairman Karpal Singh who died on Thursday.
Mourners also lined the streets to catch a glimpse of Karpal’s cortege leaving the building to the Batu Gantong crematorium.
The cortege arrived at Dewan Sri Pinang at 8.15am yesterday while the public made their way into the building to pay their last respects to Karpal, in what is believed to be the biggest funeral in Penang so far.
By 8.30am, security personnel had to close the gates to prevent more people from entering.
