Long-time former Sarawak chief minister Abdul Taib Mahmud's Australian alma mater is considering removing his name from a campus venue memorialising its former student.
According to Swiss NGO Bruno Manser Fund (BMF), University of Adelaide's estates committee will examine a request by civil society groups to rename the Taib Mahmud Court on its campus.
The university’s vice-chancellor and president professor Warren Bebbington in a letter to BMF said the university has not been receiving donations from Taib for nearly ten years.
