Hotel butcher detained in Batu Ferringhi for possessing cannabis

GEORGE TOWN: Police have detained a butcher employed by an international hotel in Batu Ferringhi here for possessing 420gm of cannabis in his locker.

The man, in his 40s, is expected to be charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence.

District OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the man was detained near the hotel at 11.35am Sunday.

“We found the ganja leaves in a plastic bag. There was also a knife in the locker,” he said in a press conference here Monday.
