The product, the ZCC-OCDMA Code For Symmetric Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) In Access Network, which was developed by a team of five researchers from UniMAP’s Advanced Communication Engineering Centre was nominated for the award in the Best of Communication Applications category.
The team comprised Prof Dr Syed Alwee Al Junid (team leader), Ir Dr Anuar Mat Safar, Dr Mohd Rashidi Che Beson, Dr Amir Razif Arief Jamil Abdullah and Abdullah Omar Ali Al-Dhaibani.
Their nomination was announced at the MSC Malaysia APICTA Award yesterday.
The MSC Malaysia APICTA Award is an annual event to provide recognition to outstanding achievements of individuals, students, entrepreneurs, SMEs and organizations with operations in Malaysia who have contributed to the development of the MSC Malaysia initiatives or in building applications and services for the benefit of Malaysia.
Meanwhile, UniMAP vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin, in a statement here today, said the product used the Zero Cross Correlation (ZCC) Code, which was the first to be developed in the optical communication area.
He said the product was designed to accommodate high number of concurrent users in a network, while reducing noise and increasing security through the use of optical code in the network.
“UniMAP is proud of the team’s achievement and it is hoped that they will continue to shine in Jakarta, hence making their contribution to the development of information communication technology (ICT) in the country,” he said.
