MAKKAH, Sept 30 (Bernama) — Tabung Haji (TH) has not only succeeded in the management of haj pilgrims every year, but also in the provision of the best medical services, with the cooperation of the Health Ministry.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who visited one of TH’s health treatment centres, the Aziziah Treatment Centre, here this morning, said he was impressed with the medical services provided by TH.
“The treatment given is comprehensive, with the ratio of doctors and specialists to patients better than in Malaysia. At the same time, the medical facilities provided are sophisticated,” he told the Malaysian media after visiting Malaysian pilgrims who were being treated at the treatment centre.
Muhyiddin arrived here on Sunday to perform the haj with his wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, four children and two other family members.
The deputy prime minister was also satisfied that the number of haj pilgrims who were sick was less than in previous haj seasons.
“Alhamdullillah, (thankfully) all have been well managed and the number of sick patients has reduced..which is good, and the treatment given is comprehensive,” he said, adding that this would make the pilgrims more confident of TH.
TH had set up four treatment centres – the Aziziah Treatment Centre, the Shisya Treatment Centre and the Abraj Janadiriyyah Treatment Centre in Makkah as well as the Dar Siba Treatment Centre in Madinah, besides the 10 clinics at the accommodation centres, including two in Madinah.
TH also brought along 250 medical staff, including 50 doctors and specialists, nurses, assistant medical officers, x-ray technicians, physiotherapists and pharmacy officers to run the clinics and treatment centres which cater to 22,230 haj pilgrims from Malaysia.
For the first time also, this year TH provided dental services to the pilgrims, conducted by a dental expert stationed at the Shisya Medical Centre, since the cost of dental treatment in the Holy Land was very high.
At the same time, the Shisya Treatment Centre had been made a special hospital for lung infection, diabetes complication and orthopedic cases.
The Aziziah Hospital also handled cardiovascular, psychiatric and gastroenteritis cases while the Abraj Al-Janadiriyyah Medical Centre catered for general cases and to screen patients to be sent to the Shisya Treatment Centre or Aziziah Hospital.
