KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) — The Senate on Tuesday passed the Private Higher Educational Institutions (Amendment) Bill 2014 to allow Malaysia to become a regional education hub.
This would amend the Private Higher Educational Institutions 1996 (Act 555) to tighten quality monitoring and control of all local private institutions and encourage the liberalisation of the sector.
It would also allow international institutes of higher learning to open up branches here, bringing with them new technologies, thus benefitting the country.
