Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the commitment of the state government could be seen in the large annual allocations to specially-assisted schools, including SJKC, in the state.
“Last year, the government allocated RM13 million to missionary and private Chinese schools,” he said when officiating the new building of the SJKC Chung Hwa here today.
Also present were Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan and SJKC Chung Hwa acting principal Sally Tham.
Musa, who is also state finance minister, said the state government would continue its commitment in ensuring the national education policy benefited the development of human resources involving all races in the country.
He said the construction of the new three-storey building would benefit students and teachers in the school, providing for better-quality learning and teaching.
Construction for the new building began in 2010, and was completed about two years later, at a cost of RM2.48 million via a special provision from the education ministry’s assistance programme.
Earlier, Musa and Abdul Rahman presented aid to 75 flood victim families at the Tun Said Community hall here.
