A report which quoted Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh as saying that the ministry was making a review to close down vernacular schools was inaccurate.
His statement at a function in Putrajaya yesterday, when he was asked to comment on the usage of Bahasa Malaysia following a report, which stated that there were participants of the National Service Taining Programme (PLKN) who were not conversant in Bahasa Malaysia, had been misinterpreted.
What he had meant was that the ministry would carry out a review on the command of the Bahasa Malaysia in schools including the vernacular schools.
As such, Bernama apologises for the error and misunderstanding in the report.
