PORT KLANG, June 5 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained 12 Indonesian seamen during an ‘Ops Redback’ operation that began on June 2 in the waters off Sungai Besar and Pulau Ketam.
District Maritime enforcement chief, Captain Mohd Aliyas Hamdan said the suspects aged between 20 and 50 were arrested when they could not produce any identification document.
“We inspected 38 fishing vessels and four of the boats were found to employ foreigners who did not possess any valid documents,” he told a media conference at the agency’s office here today.
