ACP Datin Asmawati AhmadKUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 (Bernama) — The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) on Tuesday refuted a rumour claiming that Malaysia is being targeted for attack by a group of terrorists during the Christmas celebration.
Inspector-General of Police Secretariat assistant head (Corporate Communications), ACP Datin Asmawati Ahmad said the rumour spread through social media like WhatsApp was false.
“The posting via Whatsapp asks people not to visit the shopping complexes and public places for the time being to avoid any untoward incident.
“It also claims that the government has issued a warning on the matter and is asking the people to be cautious,” she said in a statement, here, today.
In this regard, the public is advised by PDRM not to easily believe such a rumour and not to disseminate or share such false information with others, as the action is not only irresponsible but could also affect public order and their daily activities.
