The Menteri Besar said of the total, RM707.81 million was allocated for operating expenditure and RM342.71 million was for development expenditure.
“The budget tabled today involves an expenditure of RM1,050,518,473 against a projected revenue of RM1,000,457,000, thus resulting in an estimated RM50.06 million deficit.
“Compared with the 2014 budget, the 2015 budget is an increase of RM37.91 million or 3.74 percent,” he said when tabling the budget at the state assembly, here.
The budget themed “Perak Amanjaya, Rakyat Terpelihara” focused on economic development for a better quality of life that is inclusive, formation of competitive human capital, community involvement in prospering the people, improving infrastructure and public facilities.
Zambry said despite tabling deficit budgets since 2009, the state government had always ended up with surplus every year.
“This is due to prudent spending and careful planning of projects and the implementation of programmes that benefit the people. If the economic growth remains bullish, we are confident of closing 2015 accounts with a surplus,” he said.
He added that Pembangunan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNP) would also develop a RM400 million “Animation Theme Park” in Meru Raya, here by end 2015.
“The Animation Theme Park project will be supported by the development of a Water Park & Ice Park, Theme Hotel & Service Apartments, Restoran Rumah Melayu and a Central Business District,” he said.
For the formation and development of competitive human resource, he said RM58 million had been allocated to implement various programmes including tertiary scholarship, mind mapping programmes, school and tuition assistance and State Education Fund.
Zambry said RM40 million had been allocated to ensure the involvement of the community in prospering the people and building a bright future for the community, repair and maintain roads and public facilities while another RM48.19 million had been allocated for Drainage and Irrigation projects.
He said the state government has also agreed to pay a half-month bonus or a minimum of RM500 for state civil servants, involving an expenditure of RM8.62 million.
