The prime minister said that, at the same time, the people could use their power as consumers and refuse to buy goods from traders who did not offer reasonable prices.
“This will force such traders to reduce the prices of their goods according to the costs,” Najib said in his latest post on his blog, NajibRazak.com, that was accompanied by an audio recording of about two minutes.
Najib said the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry had been tasked with conducting more frequent monitoring nationwide to ensure that traders and wholesalers did not raise the prices of goods arbitrarily.
The prime minister also emphasised that the issue of reducing the prices of goods did not at all relate to the race of any trader.
