ANKARA, Aug 28 (Bernama) — Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has arrived in the Turkish capital Ankara to represent Malaysia at the inauguration of Turkey’s new president.
The ceremony, taking place later Thursday, will see Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has been the prime minister for 11 years, inaugurated as Turkey’s 12th president.
The special aircraft from Kuala Lumpur carrying Muhyiddin landed shortly after 6 am Thursday (11 am in Malaysia). He is accompanied by his wife Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman.
Muhyiddin is scheduled to attend an official dinner after the inauguration.
Erdogan is set to become Turkey’s first directly-elected president following his victory in the presidential polls on Aug 10.
