Muhyiddin, who is also education minister, said the government had to bear the high costs to clean up these schools.
“The cost of cleaning up these schools is exorbitant with millions of ringgit being allocated so that the teaching and learning process can be implemented smoothly.
“If there are parties willing to contribute, they are most welcomed,” he said when speaking at the ‘Because You Are Very Special’ 1TeachersCard prize presentation, organised by Yayasan Guru Malaysia Bhd (YGMB) in Putrajaya, Wednesday.
At the function, Muhyiddin received a donation totalling RM50,000 from YGMB for the Education Ministry Flood Relief Fund.
He said the exceptional flood disaster recently affected much of the country’s education infrastructure that led to the annoucement that the 2015 schooling session was postponed.
Muhyiddin said schooling session in 41 schools in Kelantan, Pahang and Perak which were still affected by floods even had to be postponed to this January 18 and 19.
“At present our country is still being affected by the exceptional floods, especially in the East Coast states and Perak, which also claimed the life of a teacher,” he said.
