PUTRAJAYA, June 24 (Bernama) — “Malaysia Where Love Grows” was today announced as the theme for the country’s 57th Independence or Merdeka Day celebration.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the theme was picked from the song “Warisan”, made popular by the late entertainer Sudirman Haji Arshad.
“I believe this theme will have a deep impact and fill the hearts of all Malaysians with love for their country,” he told reporters at the pre-launch of this year’s Merdeka celebration.
He also hoped that the theme chosen would not be politicised by any quarters.
