KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has issued a set of guidelines on the act of korban (sacrifice) to help the Muslims in the country to perform their religious obligation according to Syariah.
Jakim director-general Datuk Othman Mustapha said the guidelines could be obtained online at http://www.islam.gov.my/garis-panduan-pelaksanaan-ibadah-qurban.
“Since the act of korban is a religious obligation, it involves specific methods and regulations that will determine whether the act is valid or invalid according to Syariah,” he said in a statement here today.
Othman said the guidelines had also been checked and verified by the Panel of Syariah Experts appointed by Jakim.
He said the first of the two-part guidelines revolved around the concept, and methods to perform the act of korban, while the second part was more on the management of the act of korban, including the management of the animals involved.
