He told the state legislative assembly sitting that such information also facilitated the registration process from the business community and enhanced communication at the rural and state levels.
“These campaigns are also implemented through interviews, talk shows, commercial announcements, ‘rerayap’ programmes, capsules and so on through several government and private television and radio stations.
“Various supporting materials such as GST guidebook (consumerism and business), pamphlets and exhibition roadshows are also held to provide explanation and information on GST,” he said when replying to a question from Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim (BN-Baling).
Abdul Azeez queried if efforts to provide public information on GST would be continued before being implemented next April.
Chua said the government used various communication channels to intensify GST awareness and training programmes on a continuous basis to raise the people’s awareness, understanding and readiness of GST.
“We use mass media, face-to-face explanation, digital media and social media with the various target groups, including rural communities,” he said.
Chua said through the National Blue Ocean Strategy, the government worked closely via an integrated approach with the various government agencies, non- governmental organisations, chambers of commerce, consumers associations and government link companies to hold the GST briefing programmes nationwide.
“We have hold these programmes throughout the country, including districts, villages, individual groups according to the respective target groups,” he said.
