BANGKOK, Nov 28 (Bernama) — The first Asean Consumer Protection Conference will be held on Dec 8-9 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
As the online consumer marketplace grows at a rapid rate and offers considerable potential economic and consumer benefits, its regulation will need closer attention, said the Asean Secretariat.
Consumer protection also faces increasing challenges with the mobile money environment and rapidly changing technology, it added.
The conference, covering financial transactions, consumer product safety, e-commerce and consumer redress mechanisms, is expected to attract government bodies, researchers, NGOs, private practitioners as well as business and other organisations involved in consumer protection enforcement.
Organised under the auspices of the Asean Committee on Consumer Protection and hosted by the Vietnam Competition Authority, it is supported by the Asean-Australia Development Cooperation Programme Phase II (AADCP II).
