EC Secretary Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh said in a statement today that the EC would scrutinise every objection whether they fulfilled the conditions for local investigation to be held or otherwise.
“If a local investigation is to be held, the date and time for the local investigation would be announced by mail to be issued by the EC to the parties concerned,” he said.
He said the objections received throughout the one-month display which ended yesterday showed a significant increase compared to the year 2005 with 26 objections.
Based on Schedule 13 of the Federal Constitution, local investigations would be held by the EC to hear representations of objections received from the state government, local authorities or a group of 100 or more people whose names are displayed in the current electoral roll for the electoral constituencies concerned.
