BEIJING, June 16 (Bernama) — A Xinjiang court on Monday handed over the death sentence to three people over a terror attack last October near the heart of Beijing’s Tian’anmen Square.
Another was sentenced to life in prison while four others were given prison terms ranging from five to 20 years, state-owned television broadcaster CCTV said on its Twitter-like Weibo official account.
In that incident, a Chinese visitor and a tourist from the Philippines were killed and 40 people injured when a car ploughed into a crowd of people near the northern edge of Tian’anmen.
