KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) — The Malaysian national news agency, Bernama, is to investigate a claim that one of its reporters has plagiarised news reports on the Indonesian presidential election published by the ‘Jakarta Globe’.
Bernama Editor-in-Chief Datuk Zulkefli Salleh said today Bernama viewed the allegation seriously because the news agency strictly prohibited plagiarism by its journalists.
He said every journalist must know and understand that the act of plagiarising in news writing was an unforgivable offence.
“The journalist has been suspended while an internal investigation is being carried out,” Zulkefli said.
“Strict disciplinary action will be taken by Bernama if the reporter is found to have been liable,” he added.
