State Islamic Development, Propagation, Information and Regional Relations Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said several relevant committees involving the state governnment and federal government had also been set up to study it.
He was replying to a supplementary question by Datuk Mohd Adhan Kechik (BN-Bukit Bunga), who questioned the state government for still politicising the issue during the question-and-answer session.
Meanwhile the assembly was told Monday, 17 deaths from dengue fever were reported in the state with 12 patients still being treated at the intensive care unit (ICU).
Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Fattah Mahmood said 13,200 people had been infected with dengue fever since last January.
He said various efforts had been taken by the state government, including organising ‘gotong royong’ in the outbreak locations and special Friday sermons on the aspect of cleanliness to prevent them from becoming Aedes mosquitoes breeding grounds.
“The state government cooperate with all quarters to create public awareness on hygiene,” he said when replying to Dr Md Yusnan Yusof (PAS-Melor).
