Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said the matter was raised by Abdul Taib when he and his wife, Toh Puan Ragad Kurdi Taib attended the Aidilfitri Open House at her residence, here today.
“Tun Abdul Taib was most concerned about the drought occurring in the state currently, and had ordered that cloud seeding operations be carried out immediately,” she told reporters.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary of the Sarawak Ministry of Welfare, Women and Family Development, Roziah Morshidi said the first cloud seeding operation would be carried out today in several areas particularly in Saratok, the area that is worst hit by the drought.
“The Disaster Aid Management Committee at the state and village level had also been mobilised to send 50 lorries carrying treated water supply to the affected areas,” she said.
